Ex LEC students take focus project to Madagascar
LEC 2013/14 focus project team collaborate with local NGO (CEAS) to take bamboo wind turbine to Madagascar
As part of the 2013/14 focus project "rural flow", LEC students constructed a partially bamboo wind turbine designed for developing countries. Since completing the course Lukas Huber, Nicolas El-Hayek and Nils Pütz have successfully approached a local NGO (external page CEAS) and have since developed a second prototype.
A visit to Madagascar is now planned to work directly with local craftsman to erect and test the first onsite prototype. As a second phase local engineers and craftsman are to be instructed regarding maintenance of the wind turbine, enabling sustainable and long lasting impact.
